How to create a PDF document?

You can create PDF documents in four different ways:

  1) From file by choosing File > Create PDF > From File from the Foxit Phantom menu.

  2) From scanner by choosing File > Create PDF > From Scanner.

  3) Drag and drop a file icon onto the Foxit Phantom window.

  4) Choosing File > Print > Foxit Phantom Printer from a third party application with print capability (Foxit Phantom Printer is installed during the installation of our software).

How to create an interactive PDF form?

Open a PDF file with scanned form and use Foxit Phantom Forms Toolbar to add interactive fields of different types and assign properties to the fields as illustrated on the screenshots.

When adding text fields, make sure to give them unique names; this will allow contect aware recognition when filling in the fields in handwriting.

How to fill in an interactive PDF form?

Open the previously designed form in Foxit Phantom and make sure that interactive fields are visible. If necessary select the Hand Tool Foxit Phantom Hand Tool and check the box "highlight fields" in the Foxit Phantom toolbar right above the form. Then click in each field and write anywhere on your screen to enter text (of course, you can type on your keyboard as well).

How to add/delete/replace pages in a PDF document?

To insert pages into an opened PDF document:

1) Choose Organize > Insert Pages from the Foxit Phantom menu.

2) Select a PDF file that you want to insert into the destination (currently opened) document, and click Open.

3) In the Insert Pages dialog box, specify where you want to insert the document (before or after the first, last, or a designated page of the destination PDF), and page range (all or specific pages) of the PDF document that you want to insert, and click OK.

4) To leave the original PDF where you inserted the pages intact, Save As the modified file under a new name.

 

You can delete pages from an opened PDF document in two ways:

1) Click the Pages button Foxit Phantom Pages button in the navigation pane and delete pages one-by-one by selecting/right-clicking/choosing "Delete" or selecting/choosing Organize>Delete pages from the menu.

2) Choose Organize > Delete Pages and click OK to delete the selected page or specify the range of pages to be deleted and click OK.

 

To replace pages in an opened PDF document:

1) Choose Organize > Replace Pages.

2) Select the document containing the replacement pages, and click Open.

3) Under Original, enter the range of pages to be replaced in the opened document.

4) Under Replacement, enter the range of replacement pages with the same number of pages and click OK.

How to enter text into my PDF document?

In Foxit Phantom, you can add text to PDF documents in many ways using Typewriter, Callouts, Textbox, Note Tools and other commenting and editing tools.

How to sign a PDF document or form in digital ink?

To sign a PDF document, select the Freehand Drawing ("Pencil") tool from Drawing Markup Toolbar and put signature anywhere in the document.

Note. We are talking about a "regular" signature like the patient puts under a consent form in doctor's office or a customer signs any application, rather than about the "secure digital signature" which is also supported by Foxit Phantom.

How to mark up a PDF document in my handwriting?

Use different tools from the Drawing Markup Toolbar to mark up, annotate, add quick notes, and sign in digital ink your PDF documents and forms:

How to edit ink markup in my PDF document?

Press the Markup Selector in the Foxit Phantom toolbar and drug cursor across the screen to surround a rectangle containing some markups.

All markups, drawings and annotations within that rectangle will be selected; you can drag the whole group or change its properties at once.

 You can also select a separate markup by clicking on it and change its properties, drag, or resize it.

How to change ink color and thickness for PDF markup?

To change ink color or width, select an individual markup or a set of markups as explained above; then right click one of the selected markup elements and choose Properties dialog box and its Appearance tab. Here, you are able to change line color and width for the selection.

To permanenly change line width and/or color for a particular Drawing Markup Tool, right click a markup made with that tool, and choose "Set current properties as default" from the context menu. An example with the "oval" tool is illustrated below.

How to save my completed PDF forms and edited documents?

After you modify a document or fill in a form, you can save your work in one of the following ways:

  1) Click the Submit button on the document if one exists. Clicking this button sends the form data to a database across the web or over your company intranet.

  2) Click the Save icon Setting permanent properties for a markup tool on the toolbar or choose File > Save.

  3) Choose File > Save As... from the menu and specify a location for the copy.

How to create and use ink commands?

ritePen's Ink Commands or Pen Macros are desktop control tools for pen-enabled users. When you write and encircle an abbreviation, ritePen understands it as a "command" and runs the defined set of actions. You can enter standard texts, launch applications, open documents by writing and encircling the handwritten shortcuts. A simple ink command illustrated below launches the browser and jumps to your homepage every time you write and encircle the letter "h".

How to mark up my screen and take notes on the screen?

How to draw perfect shapes and charts with my pen?

In ritePen's Markup mode, press Shape Enhancer button ritePen Shape enhancer buttonand start drawing shapes and charts on your screen. Many basic shapes, configurations and connectors between shapes will be instantly perfected. You can also enhance your previous drawings: select them and click the Shape Enhancer button.
